APRIL 13-16: CHALLENGING ARIES NEW MOON

Blake's "Los, Symbol of Poetic Genius, Consumed by Flames"
MOON ENTERS ARIES at 11:56pm EDT on Friday, April 13 and will remain here until 1:59am on Monday, April 16. LAST ASPECT OF MOON: Moon Conjunct Uranus in Aries. NEW MOON IS EXACT at 9:57pm EDT on Sunday, April 15 at 26º Aries. This is likely to be a highly volatile Moon period. We're still in the 3-day-before shadow period as Mercury goes Direct on the 15th, so unexpected changes and surprises are even more probable. Be as vigilant as possible about your communications, travel and assumptions. Check and triple check! Ruled by Mars, the Warrior Archetype is reflected in this Cardinal Fire sign, so aggressive behavior may block your moves. Be as willing as possible to deflect egos by accessing Aries' opposite sign Libra's ability to compromise, negotiate and collaborate. Mars also symbolizes our will in terms of our identity...our will to be as well as who we are to become. The last aspect conjunct to Uranus can suggest a sudden change in this sense of identity. In general, actions initiated during this New Moon period will be hard pressed to turn out successfully...especially without a fight! Although the New Moon is inclined to begin something new, find your patience and maybe wait for a better day. In an optimistic closing note - there's another interpretation to this New Moon in Aries. Uranus can suggest a liberation...and joining the Moon in Aries, we might experience a blast of raw energy which can pry us loose from some paralyzing emotional entanglement. This kind of release might set us free to present ourselves as we truly are.

ARIES NEW MOON SCENE: The Bourne Identity, 2002; Director: Doug Limon. The original in a series of five hugely creative and well-written action-thriller blockbusters, which features volcanically intense Matt Damon as the title character. The mystery of his lost identity sets up the narrative and immediately catapults us into a non-stop adventure of political intrigue. But you know all that. The film needs no introduction really, but for the purposes of this post, the Aries theme runs strong. Professional Warriors all. Uranus-in-Aries' sudden and shocking amnesia for Jason. And let's take it even one step further: Aries as number-one-Fire-sign reflects this being the first film igniting the flame that becomes the rest of the series. Director Limon has Aries' ruler Mars conjunct his Ascendant which is a strong indicator of his action adventure lens on the world. Besides The Bourne Identity, these would be the stories he'd want to tell: Edge of Tomorrow, Jumper, Mr. and Mrs. Smith and the true espionage story of CIA agent Valerie Plame, Fair Game. If there's any chance you haven't ever seen this film and you're in the mood to engage with the potentially explosive Aries New Moon by having it reflected back to you while lying on your comfy couch - instead of actually living it - check this movie out!
