AUGUST 8-10: CHALLENGING PISCES MOON

MOON ENTERS PISCES at 5:56pm EDT on Tuesday, August 8 and remains here until Thursday, August 10 at 9:38am. LAST ASPECT OF MOON: Moon Square Saturn in Sagittarius. This is likely to be an emotionally trying time. Ruled by Neptune, this Mutable Water sign is normally very sensitive. The challenging 90 degree Last Aspect to Saturn suggests that our feelings may be suppressed or limited in some way. Our version of reality is likely to feel tested, perhaps by an elder. Something stands in our way from producing the results of an action initiated during this Moon period. Neptune The Dissolver is the planet of illusion, deception and visions. Boundary issues are often a theme of this archetype. Either be willing to float in the nebulous waters in-between clear definition or try to get as much of a reality check as you can. Meditation can assist if you're able to tread this magic water and making Art, Music or Poetry can be productive and illuminating. Any of these vehicles can tap your innate Neptunian compassion. Try to lighten up - this too shall pass. From experiences during this time you may have an encounter with the Divine.

PISCES SCENE OF THE DAY: The Messenger: The Story of Joan of Arc, 1999; Director: Luc Besson. While this version of Joan's story may not be as profound a cinematic phenomenon as Carl Theodore Dreyer's 1928 silent film, The Passion of Jeanne D'arc, in this more current clip you will see quite an array of exquisite visuals depicting her Neptunian visions. I chose this sequence because Dustin Hoffman's character, the Inquisitor or Joan's conscience, is a wonderful example of his Saturnian reality check juxtaposed to her interpretation of what she believes to be signs. Joan is played by the remarkable Ukranian Milla Jovovitch.

I've included a clip about the Dreyer film in which A.O. Scott from the N.Y. Times gives a short review, emphasizing the power of the close-up shot to create relationship between character and viewer. The emotional impact of these shots is readily apparent as we experience the real magic of cinema, also ruled by Neptune.
