This is the perfect indicator for a philosophical Eureka moment! Open yourself up to receive another nugget of wisdom on your life-long trip to your True and Whole Self. If you're a Writer you'll want to make good use of this time by pushing the Send button on your computer to initiate the publishing of your manuscript. FILM CLIP FOR THE DAY: Big Fish, 2003; Director: Tim Burton. This film is the quintessential big adventure...and it doesn't get any more unusual. Albert Finney, Ewan McGregor, Billy Crudup and Jessica Lange headline the star studded cast in this very colorful adventure saga. Will Bloom (Crudup) is forever seeking the Truth from his father Edward Bloom (Finney) who slips into yarn-spinning mode at the drop of a hat...or is it?

NEW MOON ON HALLOWEEN EVE
Halloween on Monday,
October 31 is also known as Samhain, a Gaelic/Scottish/Pagan festival
marking the close of the Harvest season and beginning of the dark time
of the year. It is one of the eight Pagan Sabbat's or solar festivals, celebrating earth's seasonal changes as the Sun's Wheel of Life turns. On this day we honor all those who have passed over, particularly our ancestors. The
veil between the worlds of the living and the dead - and symbolically between light and darkness or consciousness and
unconsciousness - is lifted and the invisible world becomes visible. This
year's turning of the Sun towards Winter is a doubly sensitive and
powerful threshold because the NEW MOON occurs on the Eve of Halloween. The few days before the New Moon is referred to as the 'Dark Time of the Moon' in its monthly cycle. The New Moon sky will still appear moonless. Look up at the sky and, especially if it's a clear night, notice the lack of
moonlight. You might see the suggestion of a crescent curve. It's been almost twenty years since the last New Moon on Halloween in 1997, so this is an uncommon event. So this Halloween both the Sun and Moon
will carry the symbol of Darkness. And remember the cosmic law: As Above So Below. Notice your own cycles, your own patterns, your own waxing and waning. Of all the esoteric and magical systems astrology
is the most revealing about the timing and meaning of our personal cycles. It can identify our rhythms of growth and testing. More specifically it identifies the
most potent or most vulnerable times for action. It also reveals broader human patterns and cycles of the collective - singular countries and global unfolding.
The NEW MOON IS EXACT on the Eve of Halloween, October 30th at 7 degrees Scorpio. The Eve, the night before, of any event is considered its most potent period. In astrological terms it is the approach or waxing. The energy is moving towards climax and at its strongest. I often refer to the the SABIAN SYMBOL of a highlighted degree in order to amplify its meaning. Sabian Symbols are psychically channeled images associated with each degree of the zodiac. (See Dane Rudyar's book on Sabian Symbols - read 8 Scorpio). The image for this New Moon is "A CALM LAKE BATHED IN MOONLIGHT." Interestingly, this symbol incorporates both archetypes of light and darkness. Here is emphasized that in the darkest (Halloween-scariest) moments of the unknown or of unconsciousness (the lake) the light of consciousness shines through. Often we unknowingly project what's happening in our unconsciousness onto the outside world - other people - perhaps because its easier to observe. Our work is to identify these projections as reflected back to us by others and humbly take responsibility for them...just another profound way we get to witness our vital connection to others and the fine line between reality and illusion...think cinema!
All this suggests that this Halloween, what psychologist James Hillman calls seeing through is symbolically more available to us than usual. Take advantage of this moment in time. Be still for awhile and see through into your unconscious mind, into your dark side. What are you withholding, denying? What perspectives and values do you cling to from your past, from your ancestors? What do your instincts tell you? Do not be impulsive with your re-actions or rational in your thought - just stay with your 'automatic stream-of-consciousness' process as it leads you, image by image, deeper into this rich Scorpionic field of interior wisdom. Use meditation, automatic writing, authentic movement, your dreams or your sexuality to call up your guides.

DAILY ASTROLOGY IN FILM: OCTOBER 29-31
NEW MOON IN SCORPIO from 9:01pm EDT Saturday October 29 until 9:44pm Monday October 31. LAST ASPECT OF MOON: Moon Sextile Mars in Capricorn. NEW MOON is EXACT on October 30 at 12:38pm at 7 Scorpio. This New Moon period is an EXCELLENT time for beginning a new endeavor! There should be an abundance of practical, disciplined and ambitious energy to accomplish whatever you desire. Ruled by Pluto and Mars, this Fixed Water sign Moon reflects an emotional period and can go psychologically deep to penetrate hidden resources and reveal vehicles for Healing. Our abilities for transformation are enhanced - we see how to eliminate what no longer serves us and create conscious choices of how to be in the world. It's a very creative time in general - remember Scorpio reflects that primal force which can plummet to the depths of consciousness and birth all forms of Life and Art. On a more mundane level, this is also a great time for dealing with financial issues, especially investing. We can also experience our sexuality as a vehicle for going deeper into understanding our human existence. There is enormous will power available to us at this time. It's vital to remember the advice for Pluto/Scorpio indications: This creative force must always be used to benefit others and the greater good.
SCENE FOR THE DAY: Primal Fear, 1996; Director: Gregory Hoblit. In this psychological thriller Richard Gere, as attorney Martin Vale, defends accused murderer Aaron Stampler, played brilliantly by Edward Norton in his film debut. While on the stand Aaron is goaded by Vale to reveal his split personality through the persona of bad boy Roy. He is declared not guilty by reason of insanity and remanded to a maximum security mental hospital by Judge Alfre Woodard. In this final scene we see the stinging climactic moment of the second revelation. It will indeed be a new chapter for Stampler! PS: While this clip reflects the darker side of Scorpio, remember the higher road of the eagle and phoenix are always alternative perspectives!

MOON IS VOID OF COURSE from 5:09am EDT until 9:01pm on Saturday October 29. MOON ENTERS SCORPIO at 9:01pm and remains 9:44pm on Monday October 31. LAST ASPECT OF MOON: Moon Sextile Mars. NEW MOON IN SCORPIO EXACT at 12:38pm on Sunday October 30 at 7 Scorpio. Don't plan on getting much work done on Saturday during this Void of Course day. If plans change - not to worry, keep breathing and go with the flow. Turn your attention to Take this opportunity to drift into the in-between place of the imagination and discover the joy of illogical connections. When the mind is open, free of rational thought, amazing things happen: realizations, memories that suddenly take on new meaning, creative ideas for future projects, peace. This is the time to remember your dreams and go deeply into their symbolic value. Get lost...and found...in your process of making art or writing poetry or making a film. Actions of creative and inner life import initiated at this time tend to have EXCELLENT results. Important practical actions initiated during this period tend to have CHALLENGING results.
SCENE FOR THE DAY: Nine, 2009; Director: Rob Marshall; Writer Michael Tolkin. Daniel Day-Lewis takes on the persona of Frederico Fellini in this exhilarating musical take-off of the classic film 81/2. In the middle of a press conference on his upcoming film, the concept for which he is totally at a loss, acclaimed film director Guido Contini drifts into his imagination. Here we witness the beginning of his creative process. This is a wonderful example of what’s possible during a void of course moon period. The erotic flashes towards the end of the clip are a perfect segue into tonight’s movement into the Scorpio Moon!

DAILY ASTROLOGY IN FILM: OCTOBER 27-28
MOON ENTERS LIBRA at 8:51am EDT on Thursday October 27 and remains until 5:09am on Saturday October 29. LAST ASPECT OF MOON: Moon Square Mars in Capricorn. Relationships, Art and Justice tend to be highlighted at this time. This Cardinal Air sign Moon period may tend to create tension in these areas with the square to Mars. Ambition to succeed is likely to stand in the way of paying attention to our intimate partnerships. If there are any legal matters in your life this would not be a good time for making agreements or signing contracts. Actions initiated during this Moon period are likely to have CHALLENGING results. This time would be well suited to putting a lot of energy into creative projects.
SCENE FOR THE DAY: The Politician's Husband, 2013; Director: Simon Cellan Jones; Writer: Paula Milne. This is a well-written and brilliantly acted BBC mini-series starring David Tennant (Broadchurch) and Emily Watson (Breaking the Waves). Two British politicians married to each other, each with great ambition and a very solid family life. The drama that ensues when politics interferes with their relationship is a perfect reflection of Libra Moon square Mars in Capricorn! Rather than one scene, I chose this trailer which gives you an overview of the drama. I highly recommend it!

DAILY ASTROLOGY IN FILM: OCTOBER 24-26
MOON IN VIRGO from 10:16pm EDT Monday October 24 until 1:33pm Wednesday October 26. LAST ASPECT OF MOON is Moon Trine Mars in Capricorn. This is a very practical time when we can accomplish a lot! As a Mutable Earth sign, Virgo reflects our inclination for order and organization. Ruled by Mercury, the areas of communication, travel and mind processes are highlighted now. This is a GREAT time for writing, speaking, traveling and paying attention to the details. This is a also perfect time for Cleaning! Open up some physical space in your home by removing what is no longer needed and the new found space is likely to be reflected in your psyche. The less cluttered our psyche, the more likely we have an opening for creative thought to come through. The Trine to Mars in Capricorn represents a time when we are filled with energy and ambition to achieve our goals. Just make sure you don't get lost in the small stuff and get judgmental or critical. And don't let your personal drive for success make you oblivious to the feelings of others. Actions initiated along these themes are likely to have EXCELLENT resolutions! Take advantage of this very useful time!
SCENE FOR THE DAY: American Beauty, 1999; Sam Mendes. In this scene we have the perfect combination of ambition (to sell the house) and cleaning with excessive attention to detail! Annette Bening is at the top of her game in the creation of her character, high-anxiety-ridden real estate agent Carolyn Burnham. Check out this great interview with her to learn how she works with the craft of acting: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U7xQ4jC2obs

DAILY ASTROLOGY IN FILM: OCTOBER 24
MOON IS VOID OF COURSE ALL DAY from 7:21am EDT until 10:10pm on Monday October 24. MOON ENTERS VIRGO at 10:10pm. (See Oct 25th) When the Moon is Void of Course it has passed the LAST ASPECT it makes to a planet in one sign and remains in that sign before it enters the next sign. This signifies the importance of planetary aspects. At this time, it is as if nothing is happening to influence the Moon. This is why when an action is initiated during the Void of Course Moon period, the resolution is likely to be 'no resolution' or 'nothing happens as a result of the action. This is also why the advice is not to begin a practical action during this period if your desire is for it to take form in a positive resolution. It is a great time to initiate something for which you'd like no result, or no reaction. For example if you engage in a prank for which you wish not to get caught, it behooves you to do it during a Void of Course Moon. I've read that it was during such a time that the press was alerted to the fact that the Reagans used astrology. There were, evidently, relatively little repercussions for them. This is also a perfect time for inner creative work when the imagination is freer than usual to draw new ideas from the unconscious mind.
SCENE FOR THE DAY: Scent of A Woman, 1992; Director: Martin Brest. This is the wonderful courtroom scene when Pacino's character, Lt. Col. Frank Slade, defends prep school student Charlie Simms, played by Chris O'Donnell, and Simms is released from his school 'arrest' with no reprimand by the board. We can imagine that the Moon is retrograde when judgment day begins. No penalties for the accused. No consequences for their actions. Note: Please forgive the subtitles; this was the only clip that played the scene through to end!

DAILY ASTROLOGY IN FILM: OCTOBER 22-24
MOON IN LEO from 2:34pm EDT on Saturday October 22 until 7:21am Monday October 24. LAST ASPECT OF MOON: Moon Trine Uranus in Aries. Ruled by the Sun, this Fixed Fire Moon sign is likely to signify a time of great exuberance, unique creativity and the desire for freedom of expression. Actions initiated during this time will tend to have EXCELLENT resolutions! We will want to have fun during this Moon period, maybe even push the envelope towards radical behavior. You may just have a peak higher-conscious experience now. We'll want to assert our independence and honor our off-the-grid communities. Just be conscious of not stealing the limelight from others who may want to shine now as well!
SUN ENTERS SCORPIO TODAY, Saturday October 22 at 6:46pm EDT and remains until November 21st at 3:23pm EDT. Witness that circumstances direct your attention towards the deeper, more psychological aspects of life at this time. Ruled by Pluto and traditionally by Mars (before Pluto was discovered in 1930) this Fixed Water sign is emotional in a way that feels primordial - raw, fundamental, original feelings that make us human. The drive towards experiencing our sexuality, the desire to possess and the jealousy, anger or war that is often the result - these are the base Scorpio expressions. They can, however teach us and guide us towards the more conscious manifestations of the archetype - the Creator or the Healer. Because Scorpio also learns from death, near-death or metaphorical death experiences, in its most evolved expression it is driven towards Transformation and the fullest knowledge of Life. It is able to let go of one way of being and move into another - not an easy task. We may also notice that more mundane events ask us deal with financial matters as Scorpio reflects the drive to Control and to maintain Power. Being aware of our money as well as others' resources makes these qualities, especially self-control and personal empowerment, more attainable. Always be conscious, though, the advice for working with these strong forces is that they always be used in service for the benefit of others.
SCENE OF THE DAY: Pirate Radio, 2009; Writer/Director: Richard Curtis (Love Actually, Notting Hill). Getting back to the Leo Moon...This film is a hoot - a comedy with wonderful characters! A band of renegade British DJ's who broadcast their rock 'n roll from a ship anchored in the middle of the North Sea. They are Leonine in their fun-loving spirit and Uranian in their rebellious demand for freedom of self-expression - which, I might add, a Saturnian government tries to shut down. Remember Uranus symbolizes 'new and innovative ideas' whereas Saturn reflects traditional structures. The completely lovable cast is led by Bill Nighy and Philip Seymour Hoffman at the top of their game. If you haven't seen this film, this Leo Moon is the perfect time to invite friends over for dinner, a movie and a great time!

DAILY ASTROLOGY IN FILM: OCTOBER 20-22
MOON IN CANCER from 10:28am EDT on Thursday October 20 until Saturday October 22 at 2:14pm. LAST ASPECT OF MOON: Moon Square Sun in Libra. This Cardinal Water sign Moon reflects the archetype of the Feminine and The Mother. It tends to be emotional, subjective and focuses on the home. With the square to the Sun, actions initiated during this time will tend to have CHALLENGING results. It's a good time to stay around the house and engage in nurturing or caretaking activities. Mothers may discover that their sense of self is challenged or that relationships are out of balance. In general we may find that our desire to be more receptive and inward may conflict with our need to be outwardly engaged with others. All we can do is express our truth and be as objective as possible.
SCENE FOR THE DAY: Juno, 2007: Director: Jason Reitman. Teen Juno, played by the stylistically comedic Ellen Page, discovers herself pregnant and decides to have the baby and give it to a loving family she finds in the local Penny Saver. The potential adoptive parents, played by Jennifer Garner and Jason Batemen, turn out to be at odds with the situation. Garner's sweet and earnest drive towards motherhood (Moon in Cancer) is met by Bateman's yet unrealized need for rocking out and the relationship becomes challenged (Square to Sun in Libra). Despite the seemingly difficult set-up, this films is one of the most engaging and creative independent films of the last decade, particularly because of its wonderful characters and clever dialogue. The script is written by Diablo Cody who wins the Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay. In this clip we see Juno's father, JK Simmons, accompany her to meet the perspective adoptive parents.

DAILY ASTROLOGY IN FILM: OCTOBER 18-20
MOON IN GEMINI from 9:30am Tuesday October 18 until Thursday October 20 at 6:16am. LAST ASPECT OF MOON: Moon Trine Sun in Libra. This is an EXCELLENT time to initiate actions in the area of writing, teaching, speaking and traveling. Ruled by Mercury Gemini reflects a sharp mind which is able to communicate its ideas. We can be scattered at this time so make sure to have a plan and schedule to which you adhere as much as possible, without losing creative spontaneity. Send those manuscripts in today! It's also a great time to begin a trip and have the wings on Mercury's feet be your guide. Try to take advantage of this time! Get to work!
SCENE OF THE DAY: Adaptation, 2002; Director: Spike Jonze. Nicholas Cage plays dual roles as sibling writers, Charlie and Donald Kaufman. In this clip we witness the breaking through of the classic writer's block for both of them. Both succeed in their screenwriting projects which is symbolized by the Gemini Moon trine Libran Sun. Though the trine would indicate an easier time of it, the story and structure of their respective scripts eventually show themselves as brilliant in this innovative and unforgettable film.

DAILY ASTROLOGY: OCTOBER 17
MOON IS VOID OF COURSE after 9:46am EDT on Monday October 17 for the rest of the day until Tuesday October 18 at 9:30am. The Void of Course Moon takes us to the
place of the imagination where the sky is the limit. This time is CHALLENGING
for initiating important practical actions like making binding agreements or beginning
new projects or travels. They tend not to work out or have to be re-done. This is a GREAT time for inner, creative, dream work.
Tap ideas that your logical mind may not normally access. Free associate, muse
on your dreams, use your active imagination (Jung) and automatic writing
('Morning Pages' from Julia Cameron's The
Artist's Way). Best to wait till tomorrow's Moon in Gemini to initiate other actions. It should be a Great time!

DAILY ASTROLOGY IN FILM: OCTOBER 16-17
MOON IN TAURUS from 10:04am EDT on Sunday October 16 until Monday October 17 at 9:46am. LAST ASPECT OF MOON: Moon Trine Pluto in Capricorn. Ruled by Venus, this fixed earth sign is generally considered the Money sign. The bigger principle is 'that which one values'. It reflects sensuous activities as well as the desire for the cushy life. It's also the Master Builder. It moves slowly, is stubborn and usually produces creative material results. The Trine to Pluto emphasizes a creative use of resources: investments. Actions initiated along these lines - especially purchases of Art or Property - will tend to have EXCELLENT results.
SCENE FOR THE DAY: Charlie Wilson's War, 2007; Director: Mike Nichols; Screenwriter: Aaron Sorkin; Adapted from George Crile's book. The first part of this clip demonstrates one the most creative ploys in political financing imaginable. This film is based on a true story about Congressman Charlie Wilson who, because of his unique political position, managed to orchestrate an outrageous series of events in order to fund part of the war in Afghanistan. A stellar cast including Tom Hanks, Phillip Seymour Hoffman and Julia Roberts steers us through political dialogue as only Sorkin can write. The second part of the clip is a political review with which you may or may not agree...

DAILY ASTROLOGY IN FILM: OCTOBER 14-15
FULL MOON IN ARIES from 10:08am EDT on Friday October 14 until Saturday October 15 at 11:23pm. FULL MOON is exact at 11:23pm on Saturday. LAST ASPECT OF MOON: Moon at 23 Aries Opposite Sun at 23 Libra at 11:23pm on Saturday. The Moon also conjuncts Uranus at 22 Aries. Actions initiated during this period tend to have CHALLENGING results. This Full Moon opposition reflects a period of very high tension which requires resolution. Given the Sun/Moon and Mars/Venus (Aries/Libra) oppositions it carries a double whammy of friction between Masculine and Feminine principles. Uranus in the mix suggests unexpected upsetting circumstances - a wake up call. This is a potent opportunity for us to act on what we know about The Hidden Opportunity in Oppositions. See MARCH POST. It serves us to acknowledge both ends of the polarity: knowing ourselves more deeply through being in relationship as well as enriching our relationships by being our own True selves; paying equal attention to to both Career and Home; creating Receptive Authority, Non-literal and inclusive Religions and Courageous Art. In alchemy this process is called conjunctio, the Marriage of Opposites. The Masculine and Feminine principles are both required to create the Divine Child of new consciousness. Actions initiated during this time that are elevated by this inclusive consciousness will tend to have EXCELLENT results!
There's more astrology to address for the US:
Warrior Mars in Capricorn is approaching the deep primordial power source of Pluto and will be exact at 15 Capricorn on Oct. 19th. As these two potentially volatile planets move closer together (the reflection of a strong will and a forceful power-drive) they form a close opposition to the United States' Sun at 13 Cancer. This may symbolize a potential volcanic upheaval, in one form or another, to the US identity. The ideal marriage of this opposition might look like an incredibly resourceful, penetrating and persevering US individuation process.
Saturn has been transiting the US Ascendant (Sibly chart: 12 Sagittarius) since January 2016 and makes its final pass on October 17. This tends to reflect a restructuring of our national persona and closing of a chapter for our country. Saturn's archetype here may reflect a reality check for how the world perceives us and how we see ourselves, affording us the opportunity to shed any self-illusions. It's also a time of great responsibility and seriousness. We tend to project the fear we collectively feel and create leaders who voice these fears. Robert Hand writes of this placements in Planets in Transit: "Try to avoid building a wall between yourself and others for this is a great danger now...if you cut yourself off you will become lonely and depressed."
These combined transits mark a telling moment in our history; all our public players reflect our collective psyche. We can observe our projected reality to confront who we have become. This clip from Cameron Crowe's Almost Famous suggests our quest to 'find America'. The song America is by Simon and Garfunkle.
SCENE FOR THE DAY: The Queen, 2006; Director: Stephen Frears. In this more-than-poignant film, Feminine Royalty and the Masculine State together demonstrate how oppositions may be resolved. Helen Mirren as Queen Elizabeth II and Michael Sheen as the new Labor Prime Minister Tony Blair take each other on, at a potentially tumultuous moment in British political history. The overwhelming emotional public response to Princess Diana's shocking death stands in sharp contrast to the calculated decisions of the royal family in maintaining its traditional protocol regarding her funeral. The ability for Blair and the Queen (mostly Blair) to negotiate the situation eventually brings this high tension to a respectable resolution. This scene depicts their first meeting - also a delicate balance. Amazing acting in this movie!

DAILY ASTROLOGY IN FILM: OCTOBER 12-14
MOON IN PISCES from 7:43am EDT on Wednesday Oct 12 until Friday October 14 at 2:13am. Ruled by Neptune this Mutable Water sign reflects the principle of Unity, All is One and One is All. There's a certain Platonic Ideal of Wholeness and Perfection in Neptune/Pisces. It represents the Cosmic Sea of the Divine, Dreams and the transporting experience of Art and Music. It's least optimum expression is the disillusionment of the lack of perfection and unity in our daily lives and the consequent urge to escape from reality that often ensues. Hence Neptune/Pisces rules drugs, alcohol and illusion-making media such as film and photography. The veil between worlds is lifted in Neptune/Pisces and the other world appears knowable. It is is the arena of Magic and The Visionary.
LAST ASPECT OF MOON: Moon Trine Venus in Scorpio. Actions initiated in these aforementioned areas of Neptune/Pisces during this period will tend to have EXCELLENT resolutions. Venus blesses what it touches, especially with the Trine, Sextile and Conjunction aspects. Also, since Neptune is considered the higher octave of Venus, this current configuration is particularly strong. There is likely to be a longing for perfection and completion/wholeness. We are often able to satisfy this yearning with intangibles of Beauty such as Art and Music. This moment in time feels particularly open to being transported to an ideal reality where who we are, what we want and what we can offer feels enough; if we're really lucky we may feel embraced by the Other and know Divine Love. The primary caution now is not to be swept away by the deception of idealistic romance, the urge to escape too far with drugs or alcohol or excessive binge-watching videos!
SCENE OF THE DAY: Truly Madly Deeply, 1990; Writer/Director: Anthony Minghella. This jewel of a film is representative of almost every element of the Pisces Moon Trine Venus. It is a beautiful and poignant love story in which the sweetest music is the vehicle for an ideal vision. Nina, played so authentically by Juliet Stevenson, has lost her Jamie, played by truly, sadly, deeply deceased Alan Rickman, and in this scene conjures him back through their co-creative life of music. This is truly and deeply a very special film and if somehow you missed it, remedy the situation soon!

DAILY ASTROLOGY IN FILM: OCTOBER 9-11
MOON IS VOID OF COURSE from 11:51am EDT on Sunday October 9 until 1:33am on Monday October 10. Important practical actions initiated during this time are likely to have CHALLENGING results. This Void of Course time for most of Sunday is best utilized with inner creative work. Let your imagination take you to those impossible irrational places where the paradox rules and logic feels like mental confinement! Witness the unfolding symbols of your daydreams and later find the way to incorporate them into your life. Remember the magic in synchronicities and how profound a feeling fills you when you experience it! Engage in automatic writing or drawing and let the gold of your unconsciousness show itself to you.
MOON ENTERS AQUARIUS at 1:33am EDT on Monday October 10 until Tuesday October 11 at 6:49pm. The Aquarian Moon is ruled by Uranus and reflects the principle of separation. Its qualities are uniqueness, independence, innovation and revolution. At the same time, equality and fairness are important values as evidenced in the Aquarian' attention to group dynamics - particularly the brother/sisterhood of humankind. When Uranus was last in Cancer (1948-55), for example, it reflected part of a generation who, in the 60's and 70's, yearned for unusual homes and lifestyles (Cancer). The commune and collective came in to high fashion - the desire for freedom its driving motivation and revolution or rebellion often the result (all Aquarian/Uranian expressions). As the higher vibration of Mercury, Uranus also reflects the inspiration of the higher mind. The Aquarius Moon therefore can often indicate a time when we experience the rare insight of a sudden ah-ha moment. This fast moving energy represents the electronic/digital world so computer-driven projects are highlighted at this time.
THE LAST ASPECT is Moon Sextile Uranus in Aries at 6:49pm EDT on Tuesday Oct. 11. Actions initiated during this period will tend to have EXCELLENT resolutions, especially ones based on the previously mentioned qualities. Be independent within the group while communicating clearly and appropriately about your actions. It's likely that opportunities will present themselves that will be of benefit to you if you honor Uranus. You may feel someone is behaving detached, objective and cool as is often the Aquarian's way. Try not to take it personally and stay on your own track. Pay attention to where your intuition and imagination take you - these are important vehicles of the Aquarian mind. Directed appropriately they can even lead to breakthroughs in science and technology, two valuable products of the Aquarian intelligence and ingenuity.
SCENE OF THE DAY: Captain Fantastic, 2016; Director: Matt Ross. This is a story about a unique family living in isolation in the woods of the Pacific Northwest. The inimitable Viggo Mortensen, who plays the very Uranian father Ben, trains his children in survival, radical politics and higher consciousness. We witness how these values hold up...or don't...when they choose to break the rules and enter traditional city life. The intelligence of the children is evident in this clip. What you don't see here is how their individual and collective independence and ingenuity catapults them towards adulthood. Aquarius' traditional ruler is Saturn - before Uranus was discovered in 1781 by William Herschel. So its expression can range from more conventional to radical kinds of behavior. (Aquarians are considered either more Saturnian or more Uranian types.) Interestingly, Mortensen's Ben, embodies both archetypes. While being a forward thinker he also projects a stern Saturnian authority figure as demonstrated by his military-like discipline. Raising his children in such an extreme manner may either frustrate or inspire you...most likely both!

DAILY ASTROLOGY IN FILM: OCTOBER 7-9
MOON IS VOID OF COURSE most of the day from 1:26am EDT until 3:40pm Friday October 7. Important practical actions taken during this time will tend to have CHALLENGING results. Inner creative work and flights of the imagination are the best use of this energy. It may feel like a dreamy or spacey day when nothing much gets accomplished. Let it Be! Sense the mood change when the MOON ENTERS CAPRICORN at 3:40pm on Friday and remains until Sunday October 9 at 11:51am. LAST ASPECT TO MOON: Moon Square Uranus in Aries at 11:50 on October 9. You may notice your attention gets more focused as you become more interested in producing results. You are now likely to be more practical and disciplined. But with the Last Aspect of a Square to Uranus actions initiated during this time will tend not to produce the results you desire. Some unexpected event is likely to upset your business plan. Or perhaps something too innovative or technically advanced will disrupt the traditional structure you had in place. This CHALLENGING result may also be due to someone needing a more liberated perspective or requiring more freedom in the relationship. This is about a surprising change in the situation, so don't fight it. Be prepared to go with the flow. You may even discover your unexpected (Uranus) Mastery (Saturn) of a situation!
SCENE FOR THE DAY: Mad Men, Season 4, Episode 1, 2010; Created by Matthew Weiner. This series, starring Jon Hamm, gave us a peek into the Madison Avenue advertising culture of the 60's. Here we have artistic director and agency prince Don Draper (Hamm) pitching to Jantzen bathing suit company an image for which they're just not ready. Don's creative and innovative style doesn't sit well with their modest company values. In the end Don, needing the freedom to do his thing, pulls out Uranus in Aries and goes to war!

DAILY ASTROLOGY IN FILM: OCTOBER 5-6
MOON IN SAGITTARIUS with LAST ASPECT TRINE URANUS from 3:26am EDT Wednesday Oct. 5 until 1:26am Oct.7. This is a Great time to set out on an Adventure, especially one where you welcome new and exciting innovations in your life! This is a time for Truth Seeking and philosophy. These are the High Holy Days in Judaism when attention is turned towards higher truths and our purpose in the world. With the blowing of the Shofar, it is a Wake Up call (Uranus) to our collective and personal awareness of who we want to be in the world. After the Scorpio Moon of going deep into our psyche, the Sag Moon is a time for Action. Find your own religion (see Thomas Moore's A Religion of One's Own) Walk your talk! Speak your Truth. This is also a perfect time for Publishing your thoughts - especially self electronic publishing. The only caution for this Jupiter- ruled Mutable Fire sign is excess and arrogance. Don't try to convince others that yours is the only Truth. Each of us must find our own way. Remember, Sagittarius reflects the need for independence and Freedom. Saturn's passage through Sagittarius for three years (Dec. 24, 2014 - Dec. 20, 2017) is highlighting traditional religions - their wisdom and their limitations. This is a ripe moment to examine your true relationship to your spiritual life - a waking up. Actions initiated during this period - especially in these philosophical areas - will tend to have EXCELLENT results!
INTO THE WILD, 2007; Director and Screenwriter: Sean Penn based on the book by Jon Krakauer. I couldn't think of any film more apropos for the Sag Moon than this tribute to truth seeker Chris McCandless. He sells most all his belongings to free himself for the ultimate adventure going out into the wild to discover who he really might be. He doesn't look to popular pilgrimages for his journey, but creates his own path. McCandless' trek into northern California and the Alaskan wilderness entered legendary status as a result of Krakauer's published re-imagining and Penn's film which is enhanced by its transporting Eddie Vedder soundtrack. Philosopher Thoreau is quoted as inspiration in this clip. Though his journey didn't end well for him there was a certain enlightenment for and self-respect he attained; and it certainly offered inspiration for others to witness his active commitment to a self-created philosophical belief.

DAILY ASTROLOGY IN FILM: OCTOBER 2-4
MOON IS VOID OF COURSE from 0:43am EDT until 2:43pm on Sunday October 2. Important practical actions initiated during the V/C Moon tend to have CHALLENGING results. This time is best used for inner creative work of the imagination or planning for future projects.
MOON ENTERS SCORPIO at 2:43pm on Sunday October 2 and remains until 8:04 on Tuesday October 4. Ruled by Pluto the Scorpio Moon reflects a kind of primordial deep Power of Life/Death/ Regeneration. It goes deep below the earth reflecting oil that affords us physical power and it represents psychoanalysis that goes deep into the psyche to allow us an understanding of our personal lives. It can reflect Will Power and Healing.
LAST ASPECT OF MOON: Moon Sextile Mercury in Virgo. Actions initiated during this period will tend to have EXCELLENT results. This is a great time to tap into this raw Scorpion power of creation and regeneration. This is an opportunity to draw on very strong healing energy, both physical and emotional. It also reflects a time of great creativity. Scorpio represents other people's values and resources so can be a time when attention is on financial issues. The Sextile to Mercury would reflect a great benefit in speaking or writing about any of these areas.
SCENE OF THE DAY: When Nietzsche Wept, 2007; Director: Pinchas Perry. There are few movies that delve as deeply into the psyche as this sleeper film starring Ben Cross as psychologist Dr. Josef Brauer and Armand Assante as Frederich Nietzsche. The film is a very creative narrative which includes some wonderful dream sequences. Here we are witness to a conversation in which Nietzsche leads Brauer in a journey of self-investigation. He advocates his idea of the ubermensch or overman/superman which is an element in his philosophy of the Will to Power.
