JUNE 2-4: GOOD AQUARIUS MOON

MOON ENTERS AQUARIUS at 6:06pm EDT on Saturday, June 2 after a VOID OF COURSE DAY, and remains in Aquarius until Monday, June 4 at 1:10am. It remains VOID OF COURSE ALL DAY June 4. One has to consider all these V/C days we're having. We seem to be being set up to confront the in-between places in our personal and collective lives - to let go of our western propensity for accomplishment. Concepts such as 'the unknowable', the symbolic life, the dream world and intuition, are all supported by the nebulous and creative energy of the Void of Course Moon. Just don't expect to get a lot of practical work done and know that what you do produce is likely to morph into something you haven't planned on: Go with the Flow.
The AQUARIUS MOON is ruled by Uranus (and traditionally - before the discovery of Uranus - by Saturn) and we can continue to expect the unexpected for the next few days. This Fixed Air sign is driven to surprises and changes, sometimes revolutionary. Our minds should be in high gear and coming up with innovative ideas for old problems. Aquarius rules the electronic arena so this is a good time for distributing information via computers. Work associated with the welfare, especially the equality, of the collective is always the point for Aquarius. Get together with friends or groups of like-minded colleagues and begin some exciting project. Remember that Aquarius reflects the individual's unique expression within the group, so don't hold back - be your True Beautiful self! Actions along these themes initiated during this Moon period are likely to have GOOD RESOLUTIONS. The only caution for the Square to Jupiter is excess! And don't forget that Aquarius has a more objective and scientific perspective than many of us, so if you encounter detachment or aloofness, don't take it personally. Take a deep breath, know the energy of the day and use it the most appropriately as you can!

AQUARIUS FILM SCENE: State of Play, 2003
(Original British Mini-Series); Director: David Yates; Writer: Paul Abbott. Bill Nighy, James McAvoy, Kelly McDonald, John Simm and David Morrissey lead the amazing cast in this six-hour mini-series from which the Russell Crowe/Rachel McAdams full-length American movie was adapted. It is a political thriller in which a newspaper investigator unravels the coverup of a murder involving a major corporation and an MP - who happens to be an old friend of the investigator. This version is so much better than the American! It's questionable whether all the complex dramatic plot points can be fully realized in a condensed format. The characters are so beautifully developed in the extended BBC television series that you don't want to miss a moment. Astrologically speaking: here we have a team of newspaper reporters who are working a story which starts to blow their minds. They're excited to get the information out (all Uranus/Aquarius) but then come to the realization that the meaning or what they thought was the story is challenged (square to Jupiter). This is one of my all time favorites! You can get the discs from Netflix or a library (Keene Public Library)...Here's another/different trailer:

MAY 31-JUNE 1: CHALLENGING CAPRICORN MOON

MOON ENTERS CAPRICORN at 5:26am EDT on Thursday, May 31 and remains here until Friday, June 1 at 11:37pm when it goes VOID OF COURSE. LAST ASPECT OF MOON: Moon Conjunct Pluto in Capricorn. Again, Capricorn has most often of late been making its Last Aspect to Uranus in Aries. Now that Uranus has ingressed into Taurus, Pluto will be taking over as the outer planet that the Capricorn Moon most often aspects. This can describe a deep psychological journey for the Saturn-ruled Capricorn which is usually concerned with producing practical results. Its ambitious nature may encounter the depression that is its shadow when things don't manifest as expected. There can be great rewards, however, in this rich period if we let ourselves tap the inner resources that avail themselves and not get caught up in the measure of material gains or losses. Capricorn also reflects business and government. We might see, for example, intense opposition to one government's use of another's resources, or some kind of intense disagreement between them. In general, unless we have the stuff of willing travelers on a bumpy ride, actions initiated during this Moon period are likely to have Challenging resolutions.

CAPRICORN FILM SCENE: Madam Secretary, Season 2 Episode 9: Russian Roulette, 2015; Director: Jonathan Brown; Writer: Barbara Hall. Téa Leoni stars as Elizabeth McCord, Secretary of State. In this scene she bluntly asks of the Chinese Foreign Minister Chen if the Chinese were responsible for the hacking of Air Force One. Chen responds, "China is playing a long game. When we come for you, it won’t be with missiles and cyber attacks. We will repossess you." It's a great moment as adversaries confront each other while keeping their cool.

MAY 28-30: CHALLENGING SAGITTARIUS FULL MOON

MOON ENTERS SAGITTARIUS AT 6:29PM EDT on Monday, May 28 after a VOID OF COURSE period from 1:25pm. Moon remains in Sag until Wednesday, May 30 at 2:26am. LAST ASPECT OF MOON: Moon Square Neptune in Pisces. FULL MOON is EXACT at 10:19am on Tuesday, May 30 at 8º Sagittarius. Ruled by Jupiter, this Mutable Fire sign is likely to reflect our high-minded philosophical idealism and optimism confronted with the down-side of Neptune's (The Great Dissolver) archetype: deception, confusion or misunderstanding. Neptune's oceanic power can feel like a tidal wave. With the Full Moon circumstances and relationships are likely to come to a climax and tension is often the result. This is a time for completion, as the Moon comes to full fruition and completes the growth part of its cycle. Both Jupiter and Neptune are spiritually oriented. The 90º Square relationship challenges their vision. The image that comes to mind is a road trip taken with a friend to find a natural water spring; we were so involved and perhaps overwhelmed in our philosophical conversation that we missed our exit and got totally lost. You probably know this one! Hopefully, you'll be inspired to rise to the occasion and go beyond any barriers to feel emotionally satiated. Sag/Jupiter require freedom for adventure. Neptune in its own sign is strong and the square to the Moon can reflect circumstances, perhaps emotionally laden, that block this drive. Perhaps its best to travel inward now instead of outward. Attempts at morally beneficial acts may be misunderstood or thwarted. In general, actions initiated around these themes during this Moon period are likely to have Challenging resolutions. Note: This is the first Sag Moon to occur after Uranus has ingressed from Aries to Taurus on May 15th. The significance of this transition is that Uranus will not be in late degrees of Aries for another 6 months when it Retrogrades back to Aries in November until early March. So we'll see Sagittarius Moons now Squaring Neptune or aspecting inner planets when they're in late degrees of Mutable and Fire signs.

SAGITTARIUS FILM SCENE: Schindler's List, 1993; Steven Spielberg. In this scene Liam Neeson, as greedy German businessman turned humanitarian Oskar Schindler, says his farewells to his Jewish accountant, Iszhak Stern, played by Sir Ben Kingsley. In this climactic moment he breaks down, realizing that he could have saved even more Jews from their untimely, unnecessary and morally despicable deaths - murders. It is one of the most powerful and memorable scenes in cinema. If you've never seen this remarkable personal story of the Holocaust, pick a quiet - perhaps solitary - night to go on a journey of transformation that reminds us of the real stuff we are fundamentally made of. Though Schindler ultimately saved hundreds of Jews, and as Oskar tells him: "Generations will live because of you..." he believed he could have done more...Sag director Spielberg tends to look at the big meaningful picture (Saving Private Ryan, Close Enters of the Third Kind, The Color Purple, Empire of the Sun...)

MAY 26-28: CHALLENGING SCORPIO MOON

MOON ENTERS SCORPIO at 9:39am EDT on Saturday, May 26 after a VOID OF COURSE early morning. Moon remains in Scorpio until Monday, May 28 at 9:39am. LAST ASPECT OF MOON: Moon Opposite Mercury in Taurus. Ruled by Pluto, the Fixed Water sign of Scorpio often reflects a period of emotional intensity. With the Opposition to Mercury, communications may hit a brick wall of confrontation. Scorpio is often drawn to power struggles so the challenge is to notice if you're being particularly willful, take a deep breath and choose not to go there. Decide to negotiate, compromise or concede. We like to go deep psychologically with Scorpio/Pluto, so try not to get stuck in the watery earth we call mud (Mercury in Earthy Taurus and Pluto in Earthy Capricorn). Instead, call on the resources Scorpio/Pluto also symbolizes, especially those of others, to gain more objective and flexible perspectives. Sexuality may be center stage now. You may attempt to communicate a particular message in this arena which isn't received by your partner. Perhaps its best to wait for a better day! Actions initiated during this Moon period will tend to have Challenging resolutions.
NOTE: With Uranus now in Taurus, the Moon will Oppose it at 10:42am on Saturday, May 26. Watch out for a flare up leading up to this transit, especially as we build towards the FULL MOON on Tuesday, May 29. The Moon then Squares Mars at 4:46pm so the conflict might last for a bit! Also - Re: Uranus in Taurus: Scorpio/Taurus may be inclined to purchase or invest. We're in questionable times now in the financial arena. So do your research and be cautious.

SCORPIO FILM SCENE: Thelma and Louise, 1991; Director Ridley Scott. Moon-in-Scorpio Scott directed this unforgettable scene where T and L take down this obnoxiously horny truck driver. They use their confident sexuality and growing volatility to refuse victimization in any situation. Payback power play - big time! Susan Sarandon, as Louise, and Geena Davis, as Thelma, take Scorpio Moon Opposite Mercury in Taurus to a new level of communication!

MAY 24-25: CHALLENGING LIBRA MOON

MOON ENTERS LIBRA on Thursday, May 24 at 2:52am EDT and remains here until Friday, May 25 at 5:03pm when it goes VOID OF COURSE for the rest of the night. LAST ASPECT OF MOON: Moon Square Pluto in Capricorn. Ruled by Venus, this Cardinal Air sign reflects Relationships, Beauty, Equality and Art. With the Square to Pluto which conjures up raw power, resources and depth psychology we might see some power struggles ensue between partners and relationships with women (Moon). Breathe through the tension, trusting you'll find your way to Libra's natural ability for compromise and negotiation. You may be drawn to purchase something beautiful and valuable now, but the advice is to restrain yourself and wait for a more propitious time. If any legal concerns are present, this is not a great time to act. Again, find patience. Be bold and find a reason to postpone a court date. Actions along these themes are likely to have Challenging resolutions. Remember actions during Void of Course Moons don't tend to yield resolutions we're expecting.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HGdt0QR55K
LIBRA FILM SCENE: Double Jeopardy, 1999; Director: Bruce Beresford. Ashley Judd, as trophy wife Libby turned bass-ass, is framed for her husband's (Bruce Greenwood) murder. She has to leave her young son and is incarcerated for a long time in this Love Hurts thriller - and the Libran scales are tipped way off balance! Tommy Lee Jones stars as her parole officer who, after she bails, spends the rest of the movie chasing her down - just like his role in the classic The Fugitive. Though the plot may be hackneyed, these two actors have great chemistry and pull off very believable tension. We root for her through the whole film as she journeys to a Plutonian underworld to do whatever it takes to get her son back. This clip is the prison scene where an ex-lawyer, present-con, educates her about double jeopardy - and boy does she take it to heart!

MAY 21-23: GOOD VIRGO MOON

MOON ENTERS VIRGO at 10:03pm EDT on Monday, May 21 after a VOID OF COURSE DAY and remains in Virgo until Wednesday, May 23 at 10:55am when it goes VOID OF COURSE for the rest of the day. LAST ASPECT OF MOON: Moon  Trine Pluto in Capricorn. A VOID OF COURSE DAY is usually a time when things seem to be in limbo. Plans just don't gel. Let your expectations of 'business as usual' go. Instead, use the day for any creative act. Brainstorm ideas. This is about lingering in the unknown and letting the imagination loose. Follow the images that come through. It's often the pathway to where life wants to take you. Moving into the Virgo Moon makes me think it will be a good idea to take notes on your musings...

This is the next-to-the-last VIRGO MOON for literal Spring Cleaning support! We have one more Virgo Moon right before Summer Solstice on June 21. Ruled by Mercury, this Mutable Earth sign reflects a time of striving for perfection on the material and analytical planes. When you feel the urge to organize and order everything in your environment, go with it! As Virgo is the Feminine sign of the Vestal Virgin, Keeper of the Sacred Hearth, invite some women to create order with you! Just remember the shadow side of Virgo - wanting, expecting, perhaps demanding others go with your flow. Both Virgo and Pluto have control issues, so the two together are likely to step into this complex, though the Trine suggests that some good would come of it!  Everyone has their own rhythm and priorities so conjure up some leniency and freedom as you hurricane through your closets, drawers and gardens! It is, as always, prime time for writers, speakers and researchers to do their nitty-gritty detail work. Pluto's presence suggests tapping resources that others might offer. It also symbolizes the ability to go deep, both in your cleaning and investigating. Psychological benefits are there in spades to harvest. Virgo also rules health - keeping the body in order. Pluto suggests that regeneration is a good possibility! In general, actions initiated during this Moon period are likely to have Good resolutions.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wf5S-1tJlg0
VIRGO FILM SCENE: Sunshine Cleaning, 2008; Director: Christine Jeffs. Amy Adams and Emily Blunt are sisters who open a crime cleaning business which turns out teaching them a thing or two about life. A Sundance favorite and nominated for its Grand Jury Prize, the film was a vehicle for both actresses to take on leading roles. Crime scenes often involve death (ruled by Pluto) so the movie lends itself to some great dark humor and being a perfect example of this Moon period! The last line of the trailer says it all! Both actresses have gone on to brilliant careers from this small indie film: Emily Blunt is compelling in The Young Victoria, The Devil Wears Prada, Salmon Fishing in Yemen and, most recently with husband John Krasinsky, A Quiet Place; Amy Adams went on to star in Julie and Julia, The Arrival and American Hustle - my favorite is her standout role in The Fighter. There's nothing quite like two sisters attempting to solve relationship issues, including the one with their deceased mother, while scrubbing blood spatter off a murder scene. Enjoy!

MAY 19-20: VERY GOOD LEO MOON/SUN ENTERS GEMINI

MOON ENTERS LEO at 7:11pm EDT on Saturday, May 19 after being in CANCER until 5:14pm. MOON IS VOID OF COURSE between 5:14pm - 7:14pm. MOON REMAINS IN LEO until 11:30pm on May 20. LAST ASPECT OF LEO MOON: Moon Square Jupiter in Scorpio. Ruled by the Sun, this Fixed Fire Moon should see an abundance of passion and creativity. Love affairs may abound! While 90º Squares suggest challenges, squares to the Great Benevolent Jupiter are less troublesome. The major quality to watch out for is excess! Too much passion? Too much creativity? I don't think so. Just keep you're antennae up - you know how center-stage Leo are! And how possessive and jealous Scorpio can be. Make sure everyone else gets their due...and their freedom. This should be a fun weekend where your child-self gets to come out and play! It's a great time to be entertained, if you're not the main attraction yourself. Actions initiated during this Moon period tend to have Very Good resolutions. PS: SUN ENTERS GEMINI on Sunday May 20 at 10:15pm EDT and stays until June 21 at 6:07am. Ruled by Mercury, planet of communication, travel and mind processes, this is the month for short trips and riding the writing wave!

LEO FILM SCENE: It Happened One Night, 1934; Director: Frank Capra. Gable and Colbert get creative in this classic romantic comedy which was considered the blueprint for future films in this genre. A pampered heiress rebels against her father and marries a famous aviator. She spends most of the film on the road, however, with a wise-cracking reporter who makes a deal with her to help return her to her husband if he can write her story. Conflicts arise in abundance but all's well that ends well, as is the convention for this type of movie. The hitchhiking scene above and the legendary 'Walls of Jericho' blanket room-divider scene below are great examples of the playfulness early rom-com's afforded audiences. Short on overt passion due to Depression Era filmmaking, the subtle attraction between the two characters is expressed in their overt adversarial banter. Evidently both lead actors found the script 'tasteless' but reconsidered their judgement after the movie won five Academy Awards: Best Picture, Actor, Actress, Director and Writing. Enjoy!

MAY 17-19: EXCELLENT CANCER MOON

Woman and Child - Redon
MOON ENTERS CANCER on Thursday, May 17 at 5:47pm EDT after being in Gemini until 2:18pm. (Moon is VOID OF COURSE from 5:47pm - 2:18pm). MOON REMAINS IN CANCER until Saturday, May 19 at 5:14pm. LAST ASPECT OF CANCER MOON: Moon Sextile Sun in Taurus. We haven't had a great Cancer Moon for a LONG time! Because Uranus has been in late degrees of Aries for more than a year, we've seen mostly Challenged Cancer Moons, with Last Aspects Square to Uranus. Now that Uranus is in Taurus (note: it retrogrades back to Aries in November to March '19) we'll see more possibilities for easier Cancer Moon periods. Mothers say Hallelujah!  The Feminine Archetype is released and home, family, food and nurturing of all kinds is highlighted. With the Sextile to the Sun in Taurus, opportunities are available for all these qualities to yield great benefits. The Moon, Cancer's natural ruler, also rules public sentiment. With the aspect to the Sun in Taurus this Moon period offers the opportunity to find a strong sense of self-worth and put your true Self out there in public view. Having the courage to do this should have very positive results. Remember Chiron's recent ingress into Aries is also focused on this theme, so stand up and present yourself, even if its only to your inner circle! Of course, this is also a wonderful time to stay home, create fabulous meals to share with ones you love. Actions initiated during this Cancer Moon are likely to have EXCELLENT resolutions.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5k7WUCIr16g
CANCER FILM SCENE: Little Women, 1949; Director: Mervyn Le Roy. June Allyson, Peter Lawford, Janet Leigh, Margaret O'brien and Elizabeth Taylor star in this classic adaptation of Louisa May Alcott's novel. The family saga of four daughters and their mother, living in Concord, Massachusetts, navigating life when their father/husband goes off to war. Jo, played by Allyson, is the modern 'little' woman who wants to be a big writer. We watch her impressive individuation process as she blossoms into an independent woman. She's a perfect example of Moon in Cancer Sextile Sun in Taurus! It's wonderful to see that this film, which is almost eighty years old, still holds up dramatically and emotionally. Though, for some reason, the trailer shown here is in black and white, the film was actually shot in Technicolor. The rich saturation of colors are no longer Hollywood's style, but it's awesome to go back in time to revisit the eye-popping deep reds, blues and greens.
Though it's hard to let go of the gorgeous high contrast of the black and white replica...and then there's the excellent 1994 version directed by Gillian Armstrong (My Brilliant Career) with Winona Ryder, Claire Danes, Kirsten Dunst, Samantha Mathis, Susan Sarandon, Eric Stoltz and Christian Bale. Amazing cast! The plot remains the same, as does the theme it explores: how does a woman negotiate society's expectations for marriage and family with her drive to engage in her own professional work. A constant Cancer consideration...
