The Moon conjoins the Sun at 8 Pisces creating the NEW MOON SOLAR ECLIPSE which is exact at 9:58am EST on Sunday, February 26. This is an Annular Eclipse which is when a small ring of the Sun is visible beyond the dark disk of the Moon. It's not visible from North America. Eclipses indicate times of dramatic change. The Sun, which can symbolize the Masculine Archetype - including a more scientific reason-based perspective - is blocked by the Moon, which can reflect the Feminine more inclusive emotional-based Archetype. Muse on that! Both Sun and Moon are ruled by Neptune for this Moon period. It's archetypal theme could be called 'The Urge to Merge': Unification: All is One and One is All.
While this reflects a highly Sensitive, artistic, compassionate, intuitive and inclusive time, because delineation, definition and separation are elusive, we may feel Confused. Life feels ambiguous. The line between reality and fantasy is difficult to see. Illusions and deceptions may present themselves. Membranes are thin and we easily absorb energy and emotions around us. It often works to create a cocoon of white light around oneself for protection. Neptune also represents the cosmic sea of the collective unconscious where the symbolic life resides and our natural inclination for union and inter-relatedness thrives.
With the Last Aspect Square to Saturn, however, an overly literal perspective may interfere with our attempts for the numinous, space-between-the-lines magic to bring us together. Another interpretation: Conservative divisive religion (Saturn in Sag) blocks the way of universal spiritual unification. We can, however, consider the advantage of having Saturn in the picture. This Reality Checking Archetype offers us some distinct container in which to navigate the all-pervading Cosmic Sea, however difficult/limiting the circumstances may feel. Perhaps a sense of practicality, time and responsibility appears within the everlasting Beauty of Divine Idealism. Instead of being completely merged with the whole group/community/political party, we can separate ourselves enough to express our individuality and true sense of self within the collective. While the New Moon does reflect New Beginnings, unless we embrace the benefits of the Square to Saturn this Last Aspect suggests that projects initiated at this time are likely to have CHALLENGING results. We may experience the deluge of the seas, overwhelm of emotions or a harsh test of reality. Better to honor Saturn from the get go...or accept the ultimate indivisible Neptunian union as a kind of going home.
