OCTOBER 15-17: CHALLENGING VIRGO MOON

MOON ENTERS VIRGO at 7:19am EDT on Sunday, October 15 and remains here until Tuesday, October 17 at 7:27am. LAST ASPECT OF MOON: Moon Conjunct Mars in Virgo. Ruled by Mercury, this Mutable Earth Moon is likely to be testy. The analytical nature of Virgo can veer easily towards being critical and even angry in our communications. Attention to details, cleanliness and a drive towards order, all Virgo's better attributes, can get anal, nit-picky and judgmental very fast. Put Mars in the mix and some good ole fashion rage may ensue! Be aware of these traps and try to see the bigger picture. Keep your eye on the goal and don't let the small stuff get in the way. Mars might instead give us the physical energy for whatever organizing work that needs to be done. Virgo as natural ruler of the 6th house of Health also asks us to nip any brewing physical imbalances in the bud. In general, actions initiated during this Moon period will tend to have CHALLENGING results.

VIRGO SCENE FOR THE DAY: Frasier, Season 3, Episode "She's the Boss", 1995; Director: Philip Charles MacKenzie. This is one of my favorite classic sitcoms and this scene is one of those unforgettable snippy Virgonian Frasier and Niles moments. There's no tv character with more Virgo traits than Niles Crane: he's a compulsive clean freak, always impeccably dressed and can match Frasier in nit-pickiness. When these two get into it there's no detail beyond scrutiny and no phrase for which a more precise word cannot be found! In this scene Niles has purchased a pistol which accidentally wakes a sleep deprived Frasier and all Martian hell breaks loose. These two arrogant psychotherapists create the ultimate thinking-person's tv comedy. If you've never partaken...have a look-see.

OCTOBER 13-15: EXCELLENT LEO MOON

MOON ENTERS LEO at 2:41am EDT on Friday, October 13 and remains here until 1:27am Sunday, October 15. LAST ASPECT OF MOON: Moon Trine Uranus in Aries. Ruled by the Sun this Fixed Fire sign lights up with passion and excitement now. It's likely that unexpected events inspire creative projects which thrive with your true self-expression. It's time to play and let your child-self loose! You might find yourself in a Leonian love affair! Actions along these themes initiated during this Moon period will tend to have Excellent resolutions. With all this Fire just remember to ground yourself. Time limits, agreements that are honored as well as connections to the Earth can act as containers. Also remember to acknowledge others because Leo can be self-oriented. Uranus may reflect surprising changes so go with the flow and enjoy this creative firey Moon!

LEO SCENE FOR THE DAY: Serendipity, 2001; Director: Peter Chelsom. Kate Beckinsale and John Cusack find each other at a serendipitous moment in their respective lives. A game ensues; Fate enters the picture and seals the deal. There's even some cosmic conversation in this scene! Here are two playful Leos inspired by an unexpected Uranian event which changes their lives. Leo's all about the Heart and this film is too!

JUPITER IN SCORPIO

Zeus in Bernini's sculpture at The Fountain of the Four Rivers, Rome
JUPITER ENTERS SCORPIO at 9:40am EDT on Tuesday, October 10th after being in Libra since September 2016. The biggest planet in our solar system, which symbolizes Zeus' largess, remains in a sign for about a year. The sign in which Jupiter resides reflects the area of life where we grow, where we find meaning and what is blessed by the Great Beneficent. Financial astrologers often say that the sign Jupiter is in for the year is the area for the most lucrative investments for that period. If we're lucky, this could be a time of abundance of resources!

Jupiter in Scorpio brings to consciousness issues of Life and Death, our Sexuality, our sense of Power and the experience of Transformation. These arenas are all centered around the concept of Creativity which flourishes in this sign. Scorpio also reflects other people's Resources - both financially and otherwise. Scorpio is excellent at managing money and we may find the need for this skill more than ever this coming year. Note that Uranus enters Taurus this May for the next 14 years which is another strong indicator that change in the Financial world is highlighted. This is the time to get your ducks in a row for the expected shifts in currencies, values and investments!

Follow the Images: Jupiter in Scorpio suggests that delving deep into the dark secrets of the the unconscious, the psychological Shadow, offers us great wisdom. Remember Scorpio's three glyphs: the Serpent, the Eagle and the Phoenix. From the depths of Pluto's underworld to the heights of understanding, Scorpio's natural access to valuable resources can unlock mysteries which help us heal. This is a time for meditation, psychotherapy and other practices which take us to inner places where images may reveal to us our soul. As psychologist James Hillman says, "Stay with the images." Perhaps they will take you on a symbolic narrative journey which has great meaning and liberation for you. There is a peace that can result from this kind of journeying - a feeling of personal connection to the Divine - that You Are Here, you matter and you have something to contribute.
Transformation: The Jupiter archetype expands all these areas in our personal and collective lives. It is very likely that circumstances arise for each of us which offer major lessons in Scorpio's territory. Being a water sign, our emotions will tend to run deep and be strong so make sure to come up for air and find your grounding - that which supports you. This is an opportunity for exciting transformation; find your courage to take great leaps towards who you might Become and what Resources you have to contribute to your community.

OCTOBER 10-12: EXCELLENT CANCER MOON

MOON REMAINS IN GEMINI until 6:24pm EDT on Tuesday, October 10 when it goes VOID OF COURSE where it remains until 11:38pm. At this time MOON ENTERS CANCER where it remains until 11:59pm on Thursday, October 12. LAST ASPECT OF MOON: Moon Sextile Venus in Virgo.  This is the first great Cancer Moon we've had in quite awhile! The Moon is in its own sign so its archetype, The Feminine, is very strong now. The Mother and all that that suggests: the Nurturer, the Protector, the Container, Home, Family, Food, the Stomach and Breasts - as well as the other women in our lives - are all highlighted now. And Venus is Blessing it all! Opportunities are likely available to us for benefits in all these Cancer arenas. Take advantage of this time to engage in special events, especially around the home, with family and women friends. Wonderful nurturing meals should always be included! While overly sensitive emotions, tender memories of the past and the quality of dependency may all be present, actions initiated during this time - especially around these themes - tend to have Excellent resolutions.

CANCER SCENE FOR THE DAY: The Joy Luck Club, 1993; Director: Wayne Wang. There can be no more Cancerian film about motherhood than this classic! A series of flashbacks reveal poignant memories of four mothers and their daughters who have come to America after suffering unspeakable hardships in China. In this scene we witness the healing of one Mother and Daughter pair after a truth has been spoken and lightening up becomes possible. Venus has blessed them.

OCTOBER 8-10: VOID OF COURSE DAY → EXCELLENT GEMINI MOON

MOON IS VOID OF COURSE ALL DAY on Sunday, October 8. Important practical actions initiated during this time tend not to work out as planned. It's best to use this time for inner creative work or planning for future action. This is likely to be a dreamy kind of day where not much gets accomplished. Let yourself enjoy this opportunity for entering the in-between places in your psyche where imagination affords us a different, perhaps symbolic, kind of wisdom. Let yourself be led. Follow the images to discover what is meaningful about who you have become. This is very similar to Wednesday's energy before the Full Moon. In both cases, we are able to utilize the intuitive and imaginative Void of Course period to prepare for the action of the next Moon period. MOON ENTERS GEMINI at 9:44pm EDT on Sunday, October 8 and remains here until 6:24pm on Tuesday, October 10. LAST ASPECT OF MOON: Moon Sextile Uranus in Aries. Ruled by Mercury, this is a great time to initiate travel and communication, especially of the digital variety! Uranus rules the electronic media so don't hesitate to submit or publish any written work during this time. Gemini reflects intelligence and is driven to gather information; ideas are more likely to come readily at this high-vibratory time, so keep your journal nearby to record what comes through! We can feel scattered now, so just make sure you have a container for this firey mental abundance. Stay grounded, confirm details, set boundaries for yourself and be aware of the bigger context. Things will want to come in two's (brothers are highlighted) and youthfulness will win the day! Actions initiated during this Moon period tend to have Excellent resolutions.

GEMINI SCENE OF THE DAY: Rain Man, 1988; Director: Barry Levinson. Dustin Hoffman and Tom Cruise play the most unusual of brothers on a road trip! Hoffman plays an autistic younger brother who is a savant with numbers. Cruise takes advantage of his brilliant brother's gift and breaks him out of his stable home facility to put it to money-making use. Both go through profound transformations and all's well that ends well in this endearing truly Gemini film!

OCTOBER 6-8: EXCELLENT TAURU$ MOON

MOON REMAINS IN ARIES until 6:38pm EDT on Friday, October 6. See Oct 4-6 for Aries info. At 6:38pm MOON GOES VOID OF COURSE until 7:56pm on Friday. Important practical actions tend not to work out during the V/C Moon period. It's best to use this time for inner/creative work or planning future actions. MOON ENTERS TAURUS at 7:56pm on Friday, October 6 and remains here until 9:45am on Sunday, October 8.  LAST ASPECT OF MOON: Moon Trine Venus in Virgo. This Fixed Earth sign is very happy being in a harmonious relationship to its ruler, Venus. Tauru$ is the Money sign and reflects what we Value. We are likely to want to experience a sensuous cushy few days where we're surrounded by Beauty. It's an excellent time to make major purchases, especially ones that afford us aesthetic pleasure. Taurus is the Master Builder and strives to provide security for his loved ones - so do whatever needs to be done! The Bull is also noted for its stubbornness so try to negotiate with others as best as possible and just let it go - whatever it may be! Actions initiated during this period, especially in these Taurean arenas, will tend to have Excellent resolutions.

TAURUS SCENE FOR THE DAY: Scent of a Woman, 1992 ; Director: Marty Brest. Blind Lt. Col. Al Pacino asks a beautiful young woman (Gabrielle Anwar) to dance. She's hesitant and seems innocent; she doesn't know the Tango. He sweeps her into his arms when she finally consents and suavely guides her steps to be in sync with his. Pacino's motivation is to demonstrate to his young caretaker (Chris O'Donnell) the ease with which a man can entice (and be enticed by) a woman. And who would know better than Taurus Pacino! It's got to be one of the most memorable sensuous scenes in modern cinema. And an Excellent resolution is most definitely achieved! A Must-See Classic!

🌑 OCTOBER 4-6: VOID OF COURSE → GOOD ARIES FULL HARVEST MOON

MOON IS VOID OF COURSE until 4:40pm EDT on Wednesday, October 4. Important practical actions initiated during this time tend not to work out as planned. It's best to use this time for inner creative work or planning for future action. This is likely to be a dreamy kind of day where not much gets accomplished. Let yourself enjoy this opportunity of entering the in-between places where imagination affords us symbolic wisdom. Let yourself be led. Follow the images to discover what is meaningful about who you have become. MOON ENTERS ARIES at 4:40pm and remains here until 6:38pm on Friday, October 6. LAST ASPECT OF MOON: Moon Opposite Jupiter in Libra. FULL HARVEST MOON IS EXACT on Thursday, October 5 at 2:40pm at 12º Aries. The Aries Full Moon (Moon in Aries opposite Sun in Libra) can reveal issues about one's individual identity within a relationship. If you allowed yourself to enter the dreamscape of the Void of Course day on Wednesday, the next few days may bring circumstances that help define the images that appeared. The Cardinal Fire sign Aries is a great initiator of passionate action so this Aries Full Moon is a time for acting on your dreams and bringing them to completion. Jupiter in Libra may indicate an understanding of the bigger picture or context, especially of relationships. Before the Moon leaves Aries on Friday, it conjuncts Uranus which may reflect some unexpected turn of events. Putting this all together could read something like this: Use the images from your morning meditation to discover something about who you really are and what you really want in a particular relationship and when something unexpected occurs look to the bigger picture - perhaps what is really meaningful to you about the relationship - to harvest resolution for any potential upset or surprise. Interestingly, Mars (which rules Aries) and Venus (which rules Libra) join together in Virgo right before the Full Moon on Thursday. We all know Mars and Venus together reflects the Masculine united with the Feminine. All should end well if you: 1) don't let Virgo's need for perfection get in your way; 2) choose patience over Aries impulsiveness; and 3) keep exhaling away the rising tension of the Full Moon!

ARIES FULL HARVEST MOON SCENE FOR THE DAY: Notting Hill, 1999; Director: Roger Mitchell. Julia Roberts and Hugh Grant are Moon in Aries opposite Sun in Libra! They are Venus and Mars magnets for each other torn apart by unexpected twists and turns. Her firey temper, independence and creativity meets his gentle drive for balance, equality and the beauty of books and, after all hell breaks loose...several times...somehow their friends show them the bigger picture of what their relationship really means to them. An oldy but goodie romantic comedy!

OCTOBER 2-4: CHALLENGING PISCES MOON

After a VOID OF COURSE early morning, the MOON ENTERS PISCES at 10:26am EDT on Monday, October 2. It remains here until 3:19am on Wednesday, October 4. LAST ASPECT OF MOON: Moon Square Saturn in Sagittarius. Ruled by Neptune, this Mutable Water sign is likely to reflect our imagination being tested with a reality check from Saturn. Feelings are likely to be constrained or hurt. The sensitive Pisces Moon wants to drift along the undefined numinous space where dreams and spirit live. The rational and material world may be experienced as a hindrance to this journey. Neptune/Pisces can reflect confusion, deception and boundary issues so perhaps the reality check is important and we need to be pulled back to the material world where definition appears clearer. All the same, try to allow yourself the wisdom and creativity that is also available. Painting, Music, Poetry, Photography and Film are some of the art forms that offer the non-rational aspect of the psyche vehicles to awareness. Meditation in any form also serves as an opening. Because the Saturnian archetype of form and structure is so qualitatively different from the nebulous Neptune archetype - reality vs. illusion  -  actions initiated during this Moon period tend to have a Challenging resolution. It might serve us to consciously create a protective energetic cocoon around our physical body now, as we may be particularly open to the invisible world - including toxins and the will of others.

PISCES SCENE FOR THE DAY: The Truman Show, 1998; Director: Peter Weir. Truman lives in a constructed reality. In this scene he discovers that what he believed to be true has been a complete illusion. His environment is a literal structure created by others. But he also realizes that he has the power to release himself from this deception which, according to his sensory perceptions, confines him. The Truman metaphor works - and the take-away is that what appears to be true may not be what is true. Literal Saturnian reality is, by its archetypal definition, limited. Neptune and Pisces show us that with imagination, even the sky is not the limit.
